doom 3 vid

doom3_vid.avi rocks my world. It really does. I mean, when it rains, it pours; and doom3 pours. Which reminds me; when speaking of rain, I must always now remember this small maxim: "The rain in Spain falls mainly up your ass." Those are decidedly huge ice blocks to be falling from who knows where. I certainly wouldn't want to be a house in spain, either. Or brazil, for that matter.
So anyway, a much needed update on my knee situation. None of it is really good. I went to the doctor this morning and after he showed up and turned off his cell phone, he was able to give me a fairly convincing and thorough diagnosis. I have either a maniscal tear or a something else that was even more vernacularly degenerate. Either way, its no good. Heres the explanation.
Your knee has two spots for cartalidge; one at the end of your thigh bone and one at the begining of your shin bone; right where they meet. The one on the shin is kind of like a ribbon that acts as a shock absorber; and the one at the thigh bone is a cushion for that bone which I can only assume also acts like a shock absorber. There are currently 4 possibilities, which will be narrowed down to 1 shortly, after I receive the results of my MRI. 1. The ribbon tore and curled into the joint, causing locked knee. 2. The ribbon tore just enough to make it irreperable, and curled into the joint, causing locked knee. 3. The cartalidge at the end of the thigh bone chipped off and found its way into the joint, causing locked knee. 4. The cartalidge at the end of the thigh bone peeled off slightly and curled into the joint, causing locked knee.
All of these are bad for me for different reasons. The fastest and best possibility is that the cartalidge flapped off and curled; that operation requires a few bolts to put it back into place, and within 4 to 6 weeks I should be about as healthy as I was before. The other possibilities (possibility 1, which would be fixible, is about a 1 in 20 chance), leave me with permanent damage to my left knee that add to the likelyhood of arthritis in the knee down the road. If its 1, they can fix it, but it'd render me useless for 4 to 6 months. If its 2 or 3, they'll snip out the piece and round down the cartalidge, giving me back my use fairly instantly, but at the cost of a less strong knee against arthritis. I don't know; it all sucks, I just want a good recovery from whatever the hell operation I need at this point; arthritis is something I can worry about later when or if it happens.
I'm surprisingly not depressed by any of this, I'm really just glad that I'll have the opprotunity to get better soon. Of course, then theres that dick MRI technician who said my ACL was "gummy".. but just what the hell that means is really beyond me at this point. I gave blood and urine, got the hell out of the hospital, and on Wednesday I'll be making my merry way back there to go under the knife. All rather sudden, but maybe its better off this way. If I'm lucky, I'll be up and around (and walking) by the 8th when I have that MSI concert. If not, I guess I'll go in crutches. This update has been hurried for impatient bitches everywhere!
