I just had the priviledge, and indeed, for the first time perhaps, I've considered viewing an anime a priviledge, of watching the 25th episode of Mugen No Ryvius (Infinite Ryvius). Ho-lee shit.
Let me paint the picture. Its the year 2220(ish). A bizzare phenomenon has caused a sunburst that has created a vast plane of increased electrical activity and gravitational force all accross the solar system known as the Geduld. Kouji and his childhood friend Aoi head towards the space station Liebe Delta to get training for space-related occupations. During a planned dive into sere 3 (level 3) of the Geduld, something goes wrong. The children chance upon a space ship at the core of the Liebe Delta, and seek refuge inside it. Passing down to sere 5, the Liebe delta breaks apart from the force, and Kouji, Aoi, Kouji's brother Yuuki, his friend Oze Ikumi, the members of the elite students, the Zwei, a group of punk kids, and hundreds of other students escape the Geduld in this secret ship; the Ryvius.
What ends up happening psychologically is much akin to lord of the flies, except theres a lot more to worry about in space. There's also the fact that, for some reason, the Ryvius and its "crew" have been branded terrorists. Theres also talk of an inter-planetary conspiracy, not to mention the mysteries behind the Ryvius itself.
I knew this series was great when I watched the first 13 episodes. Now that I've watched another 12, I know its fantastic. It's the only series I've evern seen to come close to the power of Evangelion.. and perhaps it even surpasses it. Marvelous! Ja!
