Power Outage

Apparently, half of the United States had a power outage today. I would know, because I was right in the middle of the power outage, but if you asked amit about it, apparently it didn't happen. Even so, the power outage forced me to stay awake for 6 hours in the dark, struggling to find something to do without light. But first..

Work; 4:07 PM (16:07 for you civilized folks; sorry, you have to change it to BMT yourself). My computer shuts down. SHIT. Hmm, its lasting longer than 5 seconds, better go downstairs and make sure the UPS kicked in. So Andre and I go downstairs and check shit out, and everything seems to be good. After shutting off more than half the systems, with over 600 minutes left on the UPS, I hightail it out of there (being glad that I live 2 minutes away) and come back to the house to provide the habitants with some form of music.

So now its about 5:45 (17:45), and a 6 way Risk game is going on in the room, with me playing troubador. All is well, after all, the sun is still up. I'm hungry, but I'm willing to wait for cronies to go with me to Mision Burrito. Apparently, a big mistake, as I waste the rest of the daylight hours watching a game of risk and going far beyond the point that my fingers have built themselves up to on the acoustic.

At about 9:30, we realize something must be done to keep sane; light must be had. At first, we light a few candles. Then, we realize that there are tiki torches to be had, so I refill the citronella and light em up. We are the lucifers of the modern world. After this, John Paul lights up the gril while Jeremy and I get into a pissing contest via digicams; trying to take snapshots of NYC in the dark. Needless to say, I won. You'll get results shortly. So after meeting up with the infamous snipps, we hightail it back to see if there are burgers to had.

But if it was dark, and there was no power, for 3 hours, what would you do? Sleep, naturally, and most everyone had gone off to bed in one way or another. But we had other plans. Chicken Quesadilla's were had, as was a good time and lots of fire. Steve popped by, as did MacGreggor; and when all's said and done, the power going off should have put a lot more perspective into my life than it actually did. Waiting for power to come on is after all far different from not having it.
