(note I've changed a number of the titles that were either insanely stupid or totally non-topical -ed)

My last post, entitled KDE 3.1 beta, had pretty much nothing to do with KDE 3.1 beta, which as you might have guessed (or heard repeatedly from me), I am now running. Its beauty is beyond compare, and if I must, I'd compare it to ["snowflake.html" a beautiful snowflake]. Looks like I finaly coded something that was remotely cool enough to be put on here. My OS homework, symlinks and all, should be done sometime tomorow or the next day; either way, with [http://www.arsjerm.net jerm] on the team, it should be an enjoyable affair.

Needless to say, this update almost didn't happen. Its not because I wasn't bugged incessently about it by [http://www.omlettesoft.com JLP], or because there wasn't enough going on, it was because there was ''way too fucking much'' going on. I mean, the hilarious dinner with Tan Man, JLP, Jerm; the "maxed out Latin hunk" antics of which justice cannot be done by any recital of the events; the frictionless floor or the completely reckless disuse of the proper channels; the spiggot for god sakes, he didn't even ''need'' it. Then theres the loads of [http://www.cs.stevens-tech.edu/~djd homework] that I've had to do over the past few weeks. It seems like when a day passes and I don't work on OS, I almost feel like I'm not complete or even a man at all.

We're having some big shindig down at the house tomorow night, so if anyone wants to play video games (read: get their asses kicked by me in MVC2), feel free to drop on by the Alpha Sig house. It comes [http://www.omlettesoft.com highly recommended]. Actually, I feel somewhat humbled by ''that'' decision.

I'm thinking of starting a small-time circle of chill-ness Wednesday night anime thing in my room or possibly the basement (if more than like, 4 people want to come over and chill in the circle of chill-ness). With the [http://attila.stevens-tech.edu/anime anime club] the way it is, I figured it'd be neat to have a little get together once in a while and just relax and shoot the proverial shit.

To not repeat last time's mistake, and to bring up something I neglected to mention last time, I'll now talk about X11 forwarding. Be prepared, I am not a funny man.

So the other day, at around 5 in the morning or so, I'm reading slashdot like a complete loser, and I see [http://osdir.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=29 some link to osDIR.com] about a review on blackbox. I figure, its cool, you know? Blackbox is aight. So I go over and check it out. The review is pretty short but to the point; I blame it on blackbox's lack of ''features'', but its true that [http://attila.stevens-tech.edu/~wtsang minimalists] everywhere just can't get enough. Anyway, I check out the [http://www.netmeister.org/screenshots/bb_work.png "obligatory screen shot of blackbox in action"] as it was called, and to my surprise, the first thing I see is "NetBSD becasse.cs.stevens-tech.edu". I think, quite immediately, "HOLY SHIT! Someone who works here ''knows'' stuff?". Around now, I'm rethinking that ignorant philosophy. I go to this [http://guinness.cs.stevens-tech.edu/~jschauma/ "jschauma"s] page, and when I check out the [http://www.netmeister.org/ private] section, I notice quite immediately "W3C HTML 4.01". Wow, this is a man of standards. He's a man of much more than that, too. Apparently, he's a contributor to NetBSD. That's pretty damned cool.

Present day, Present time. Hahahaha. [http://attila.stevens-tech.edu/~whsu PJ Johnny] and I walk into the lab to start on [http://www.cs.stevens-tech.edu/~elli cs437 homework] and to give the admins at the lab a piece of our minds. Upon the previous day's inspection, we realized that automatic X11 forwarding over ssh (ssh -X ...) had been turned off. We wondered why, and apparently it was "security". But we didn't really buy that, and apparently neither does mr. Jan Schauman. Who else did we meet at the lab but the man himself. So he said he'd make the changes to all of the machines "later", but gave us one machine to log into until then (murphys.cs) that had it enabled. Not only was the problem easily revolved, not only did I get to talk to a Guru of sorts, but Johnny also go to suck up to him and tell him that he had read his faq. It was a good day for everyone.

Thank's to the X11 forwarding, I completed my snowflake (it just goes full circle, doesn't it) around an hour ago, and just now finished the documentation and submission for it. At least I can rest in peace tonight, knowing that I have left no homework undone, no website un-updated, and indeed, no ass unkicked. Ate' logo. (Portuguese Stylee)

  • UPDATE * Added the Koch's Snowflake in C using openGL to the link on the left and in about 5 seconds, the machina page.
