@jmoiron@_mfridman Honestly, it isn't, but I think I'm going to start doing it more. I'd have forgotten half of what I was thinking about reading the earlier chapters without them.
@jmoironI read "Philosophy of Software Design" recently, and wrote up some extended notes/reactions to it: https://t.co/Tg6C27GLyi
@jmoiron@davecheney @pims It would be a huge coincidence if it did :D
@jmoiron@davecheney @pims require.This(actual interface{}).ToBeEqualTo(expected interface{}).Otherwise(msg ...interface{}) here you go problem solved
@jmoiron"I have some experience" et. al are 100% my brand of laconic humour, and I'm guilty of doing almost exactly this sometimes, but also: it's bad for a respected leader to treat the community process with what looks like open contempt https://t.co/xJfldybqOr

@jmoiron@JackMurphyRGR @RealSamFaddis I'm guessing that Stuxnet is not the kind of strategic sabotage you're looking for, but it has ongoing impact on how security is approached and discussed in tech circles.
@jmoiron@bryanl we're supposed to have been wearing pants this past year?
@jmoiron@Eeyun___ Our paths didn't end up crossing at Datadog, but good luck and take care of yourself.
@jmoironGoogle v. Oracle ruling went the "right way" IMHO, but I'm having difficulty rationalizing why (other than the alternative is really damaging) and the "fair use because it brought Java to a new platform" argument is not persuasive. J2ME predate's Android, for instance.

@jmoiron@clofresh @wtfmig Super Dodge Ball, what a classic
@jmoironOsterhout's POSD is very thought provoking. The framework it creates to dissect software design is excellent. Not sure I would have been able to absorb its lessons just by reading it, but I certainly would have learned them faster equipped with its vocabulary.

@jmoironThis session's version is S854A and you can follow its progress on the senate website: https://t.co/e3USuLPmKU
@jmoironIt's just passed the assembly and is on Cuomo's desk. Scratching my head that Chuck Schumer seems to be more of a champion for this than the WF affiliated state senator from Long Island: https://t.co/ILx7F4Aw8X https://t.co/KKRTNuXFev
@jmoironThe public perception of y2k being a big joke instead of a case where effective planning and collective action prevented a pretty serious disaster sure feels related to a lot of fatalist anti-mask and climate denial narratives. https://t.co/FqachVQX4r
@jmoiron@olix0r i believe the record was set 65mya
@jmoiron@amontalenti This is pretty big in HK. Without automatic transcription, you lose the ability to scan these conversations, so it's sweet spot is pretty narrow, mostly one-way notifications like "i'm leaving now", and many other potential uses involve a big tradeoff.
@jmoiron@felixge The results are perfectly skewed towards "writing code", with "understanding code" (local debugging, profiling) in the middle and actually operating and maintaining software (build tool integration, remote debugging) at the bottom.

@jmoironNorth Manhattan is so invisible. Google image search "manhattan map" and many images won't even show the northern border of Central Park, let alone Wash. Heights. Imagine if 95% of maps of the US cut off at DC, and we called Virginia "the north country" and Atlanta "midway." ht...
@jmoironMTTM, or mean time to metrics, measures how long it takes a hot new observability platform to add metrics to their platform.
