@jmoiron @benjaminws @nerdsane Well, if it's "just" hard, then we can still do it! "They're always this" is fatalist IMHO. I still think the best outcome is a system directly on top of the k8s API focused on composable/reusable abstractions. This was the goal, we just didn't get there.

@jmoiron @nerdsane The optimist in me still wants to believe "we've tried this a lot, but it's really hard, so we've failed on some level" rather than "this is as good as it gets."

@jmoiron It's been about 2 1/2 years since I wrote "Is K8s Too Complicated?" and things haven't changed much on that front. Two possibilities: the complexities are irreducible, or it is hard to build meaningful abstractions on the platform.

@jmoiron HashiCorp stuff is, among other things, an opportunity to use HCL instead of YAML and there's always a part of me that thinks "yeah that's probably worth it alone"
